Education (Child Labor, Literature, New Technologies)
Learning, not working, is what children should be doing: In Pakistan children are force to go for work instead of taking education. There are variety of factors, but poverty appears to be one of them. Parents that are as impoverished as a church mouse are unable to feed their children. They send their children to work in houses for less pay, and in some cases no pay at all, with just food and shelter supplied. For many families, the alternative is for their children to beg on the streets, succumb to drug addiction, and be enticed into criminal gangs. Domestic labour, on the other hand, is seen as a better/safer alternative. It has been reported that the Punjab Domestic Workers Act, 2019, which forbids the hiring of minors under the age of 15, has not been enforced after a year. Only 12,500 domestic employees have registered with the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution in Pakistan’s most populated province. This statute established a commendable system of domestic worker protection, but execution remains an issue. The cabinet accepted the summary proposed by the Ministry of Human Rights to alter the Child Employment Act of 1991 to include child domestic labour in part I of the Schedule. This statute defines a child as someone under the age of 14, which is in violation of Article 25-A of the Constitution, which requires every kid to complete 16 years of school.
Women’s Literature: Its History and Importance: Due to women’s low status in male-dominated cultures, the heritage of women writing has been largely disregarded. It is still not uncommon to find literature seminars or anthologies in which women are significantly outnumbered by male authors, if not completely missing. Women’s literature’s task, then, is to define and develop a field of study for a group of individuals who have been historically oppressed, and to investigate their lives as they were while inhabiting such a distinct social position within their society through their writing. Women were frequently the sole champions of themselves, their contemporaries, and their ancestors before the entrance of women’s literary history schools into academia and the revived efforts of researchers to discover, recover, and conserve the literary heritage. A Vindication of the Rights of Women by Mary Wollstonecraft was a seminal book that opened the way for many women after her to not only publish their works but also to participate in the broader critical debate on women in literature. On rare occasions, men joined women in speaking out. Catalogues produced in the 18th century and written by males were some of the first documented attempts to recognize women’s contributions to literature. Barbauld’s reintroduction to the literary canon was prompted by a growing interest in women’s literary history. The journal was founded in 1975 with the goal of publishing and promoting works by women authors. In the 1970s and 1980s, second wave feminism inspired a renewed interest in creating a space for women’s labour. Women’s history and literature courses began to be offered at colleges. Women’s presses were established with the goal of releasing previously unpublished or underappreciated works by women.
