Pakistan stock market rally as ME peace deal boosts PSX

The Pakistan stock market rally gained momentum on May 6, 2026, as ME peace deal hopes lifted sentiment and pushed buyers into shares across sectors. The PSX rally reflects improving risk appetite and renewed confidence in the economy. Investors cited calmer political signals and easier oil price dynamics as drivers behind the rally.

The benchmark KSE-100 index traded between an intraday high of 172,088.58 and a low of 167,354.44. It closed up 6,962.29 points, a 4.23% rise, at 171,704.76. In plain words, the KSE-100 finished sharply higher, underscoring the Pakistan stock market rally sparked by peace hopes.

KTrade Securities equity trader Ahmed Sheraz noted the rebound, saying the KSE-100 closed up 6,962 points (+4.23%), signaling broad-based strength and a robust PSX rally. Momentum stayed positive as volumes surged to 562 million shares.

Sector leaders included UBL, Lucky Cement, Pakistan Petroleum, Fauji Fertiliser, OGDC, NBP and Hub Power, all contributing to the upturn and showing both institutional and retail buying interest. The rally was aided by a sharp drop in global oil prices, from about $126 to near $98 per barrel, amid easing Hormuz tensions and renewed Iran negotiations.

Analysts from AHL warned the market could stretch toward 175,000 if sentiment remains constructive, with 175k in sight. Topline Securities noted 95 advances, 5 declines, and 489 companies traded, highlighting strong participation. Hascol Petroleum led volume with 103.5 million shares, rising Rs1.14 to Rs22.69. Foreign investors sold holdings worth Rs330.6 million, a modest exit in a strong session.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the timely de-escalation efforts, reinforcing market confidence. Looking ahead, the outlook remains linked to geopolitics and oil prices, but the current PSX rally shows how peace hopes can translate into real gains for Pakistani investors.

Conclusion: The Pakistan stock market rally demonstrates resilience and potential, driven by peace hopes and broad participation in the KSE-100.
